Árnyék — Black Ceramic Vase with Gold Detail

Árnyék is a handmade vase with a strong, full-bodied silhouette that narrows into a short neck before flaring into a wide, flat collar. The deep matte black absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so the form reads first as a contour — soft, weighty and clearly drawn in space. The broad collar gives the piece an almost architectural presence and makes it look quite different from above than it does at eye level.

Across the body runs a drawing in fine dark line, anchored at a handful of small golden points — the only flash of brightness on the entire surface, easy to miss until the light catches it. Each element is fitted by hand, so the path of the line is never repeated exactly from one piece to the next. This is handcrafted work from a small studio, which means subtle variations in tone and texture are part of the object's character. The vase is at its best standing alone against a pale background with room around it, though it will just as readily hold dried branches or a single sculptural stem.
