Fodor — Pink Ceramic Vase with Ruffles

Fodor is a handmade vase whose body is wrapped in four layers of soft, undulating frills, stacked one above the other like the ruffles of a skirt. Each has an irregular, waved edge and overlaps the one below, so the form builds rhythmically from the base upward before closing with a smooth, unadorned rim. That contrast — exuberant decoration meeting a completely plain opening — is what keeps the piece balanced.

The glossy salmon-pink glaze lets light slide across every fold, creating a play of bright highlights against deeper shadows in the creases of the frills. The colour is far from uniform: in places it deepens towards coral, in others it lightens almost to peach. The vase is handcrafted in a small studio, which means the arrangement of the waves, their number and the distribution of colour differ from one piece to the next. The object looks best standing alone, against a muted, pale background.
