Kinövés — White Ceramic Vase with Relief

Kinövés is a handmade vase with a classical, full-bodied silhouette — a rounded belly, a gently tapered neck and a plain, quiet rim. That restrained form, however, serves only as a backdrop for what happens across its surface: a dense, shredded relief spills down from the rim, wrapping one side of the vessel and breaking off abruptly just above the base.

The growth is built from thin, ragged sheets of clay that recall moss, coral, or a flame caught mid-movement. Its warm peach tone plays against the cool matte white of the body, so the decoration reads as something foreign that has attached itself to the vessel from outside. Each piece is handcrafted in a small studio, which means the path of the relief, how far it reaches and the intensity of its colour are unique to that example. The vase reads first as a sculptural object — it looks best standing alone, against a pale background or on a plinth.
