Noktürn — Black Ceramic Vase with Angled Rim

Noktürn is a handmade vase with a full, rounded body that draws into a short neck and opens into a funnel-shaped collar cut on a steep diagonal. That tilt breaks the symmetry and gives the whole form a sense of movement — the piece seems to turn towards the light, like a flower or an antenna. The deep black body is finished in a high gloss and scattered with fine pale flecks that drift across the surface like stars in a night sky.

The most compelling thing about it is the contrast in finishes: the smooth, mirror-like body meets the raw, sandy texture inside the collar, matte and rough to the touch. Each piece is handcrafted in a small studio, so the distribution of the flecks, the angle of the cut and the intensity of the texture are never repeated exactly — the mark of handmade work rather than a deviation. The vase reads first as a small sculptural object: it looks best standing alone against a pale background, where the gloss and the speckling have room to register.
