Szakadás — Sculptural Vase with Carved Relief

Szakadás is a handmade vase with a tall, two-part silhouette in which a full lower belly and a slimmer upper section meet at a pronounced waist. It is exactly there that the fracture of the title occurs — the vertical grooves running across the surface break and shift, as though the form had been cut through and turned slightly against itself. The effect recalls a fault line in layered rock: a steady rhythm that suddenly loses its continuity.

The surface keeps a raw, earthen character, with visible grit and natural variations in colour. The grooves are carved by hand, so their depth and spacing differ across a single object — the trace of a tool and a hand rather than a machine. Each piece is made individually in a small studio, which means tone, texture and the path of the lines are never repeated exactly. The vase reads first as sculpture: it looks best standing alone, on a plinth or somewhere raking light can bring out the play of shadow in the relief.
