Árkád — Marble Decorative Bowl

Árkád is a handmade decorative bowl in which clean geometry meets the weight of natural stone. A shallow, perfectly circular basin rests on a solid arched base — a simple architectural motif that lifts the whole form clear of the surface and lets light and shadow pass beneath it. That single gesture gives the object a lightness it has no right to have, given its evident mass.

The deep graphite-black stone is cut through with a network of pale veining, and that pattern differs in every block — two identical pieces simply don't exist. The stone is hand-worked and polished in a small studio, so slight variations in the run of the veins, in tone and in the depth of the polish belong to the nature of the material. The bowl works as a standalone sculptural object on a dining table, console or sideboard, and takes fruit, jewellery or small everyday objects just as gracefully.
