Kehely — Footed Ceramic Bowl

Kehely is a handmade bowl resting on a short, flaring foot that lifts the whole cup clear of the surface and gives it an almost ceremonial presence. The rim is deliberately uneven and gently waved, and the walls keep the marks of being shaped by hand — nothing here has been smoothed into perfect symmetry, and that looseness is precisely what gives the piece its character.

The surface carries glazes applied like paint: warm ochre and rusty red shift into cool blues towards the base, while yellow runs and fine dark speckles scatter across the outer wall. The interior is finished with delicate vertical grooving that catches light quite differently from the smooth body of the vessel. The bowl is handcrafted in a small studio, so the arrangement of colours, the line of the rim and the path of the drips are unique to it. The object works as a decorative piece on a table or console, and takes fruit or small everyday things just as well.
