Lencse — Low Glass Vase

Lencse is a handmade vase built as a flat, disc-like body that swells into a perfectly smooth, streamlined ring and closes with a small circular opening at the top. The form is as spare as it gets — no edges, no ornament, nothing but one continuous, unhurried outline. The effect is of a drop of water that has settled on a surface and set there in perfect balance.

The heart of the piece, though, lies inside: a concentric swelling rises at the centre of the base, recalling the rings that spread across water after a stone breaks the surface. The clear, colourless glass behaves like a lens — gathering light, distorting whatever sits behind it and casting a delicate pattern of reflections across the table that shifts with the hour. Each piece is handcrafted in a small studio, so the thickness of the walls and the path of the rings are unique to it. The object looks best on its own, on a pale surface with access to natural light.
